Getting Started
Teachers build their own problems and modify existing problems from the Builder Tab. Note: Your “My Problem Sets” folder can be accessed from the Builder tab..
To start editing or creating a problem set, click the problem set to access the builder or the ‘+New’ button, then ‘Problem Set’ to create a new problem set. Below is an overview of the components on the Builder tab landing page.
Click the ‘+ New’ button to create a new folder or a new problem set.
Click any existing problem set to access that problem set in the Builder.
Clicking the triple dot to the right of any problem set allows you to
access the problem set by selecting ‘Open Contents’.
‘Rename Problem Set’
move a problem set to a new folder by selecting “Move to”,
‘Preview as a Student’ allows the teacher to experience the problem set as a student and
delete a problem set by selecting “Remove”.
You can ‘Copy Problem Set’ if the problem set is published. If it has the orange “work in progress” indicator, you can not make a copy.
Any unpublished problem set will display the orange Work In Progress indicator (hammer and wrench symbol).
Click and drag any problem set using the grabber symbol to reorder problem sets.
Once you access an existing or create a new problem set, you will be taken to the Builder for that problem set.
Features in the Builder
At the top of the problem set is the problem set ID.
Next to the problem set ID are the buttons teachers can use to access each view within the Builder.
Problem Set View - This is a view similar to what is seen in the content library.
Problem Editor View- Allows for each problem body, answer and supports to be edited..
Student Preview - allows the builder to preview the problem or problem set from the students perspective. .
Publish Button - This button will verify and publish the problem set so that users can assign. If the problem set does not publish the Work In Progress icon will show along with notes about what needs to be fixed..
“+NEW” Button - Allows the user to add a new single or multi-part problem to the problem set. Problems can also be added by their problem ID.
Settings Menu - Allows users to view and edit problem set settings.
Open/Close the right hand navigation bar.
Exit Builder and return to My Problem Sets.

Problem Set Title and Edit Problem Set Title Icon - This pencil icon allows the user to edit the name of the problem set.
Filter - this allows the user to decide what elements of the problem they want to see in this view. The user can choose whether or not to see:

Standards
Checkboxes - When the problem set is published, the user can choose to assign all or a selection of problems.
Individual Problem ID - the internal ASSISTments identification code of this problem. This is useful if you need to contact ASSISTments with any issues with a problem set. Note: this will only appear as an ID if the teacher has turned on ‘Show Problem ID’.
Problem Set Contents - this is the scrolling area where all problems and whatever is selected in the filter can be seen in a continuous, scrolling list.
Supports - If the teacher has authored Student Supports (hints, explanations, student response feedback) they will display directly after the problem. Note: Will only display if “supports” is checked in the filter menu.
Problem Triple Dot - This menu allows the user to select from three options for the problem they are viewing.
Edit - this will launch the user into the problem editor view.
Make a copy - Problem is copied and added to the problem set.
Remove - problem is removed from the problem set.
Navigation Bar - this shows the contents of the problem set that the user is viewing as a list. Clicking on a problem in the navigation bar will scroll the Problem Set Contents to that problem.
Assign Button - Once a problem set is published, this button will allow the user to assign the problem set. If the problem set is in Work In Progress, this button is disabled.
The Problem Editor
Problem Part Tabs - In the case of a multi-part problem, each part will be displayed as a tab. Parts can be reordered by dragging the tab or problem part/ID in the navigation bar. New parts can be added using the “+” icon to the left.

Triple dot menu which gives users the following options: Remove Problem, Copy Problem, Replace Problem with a Copy, Edit Standards, and Problem Info.
The Navigation Bar that allows builders to see the order of their problems in the current problem set. Problems can be reordered and selected here.
Below is an overview of the bottom of the Problem Editor.
Answer Setup - The correct and/or available answers.
Supports - hints, explanations, and wrong answer feedback to aid students in solving the problem.

The Student Preview
When you click the Student Preview button at the top of the Builder, choose whether you’d like to preview the currently selected problem or the whole problem set. Note: If you select Problem Set, the Student Preview will automatically be set in Student Choice mode (allows you to view and select problems to complete in the order of your choosing).
