Teacher Engagement Manager, Louisiana

We seek a full-time Teacher Engagement Manager (TEM) to support the overall success of a 30-school pilot launching next school year in partnership with the Louisiana Department of Education. The program will support teachers with using ASSISTments regularly in their classroom, as well as a group of tutors using ASSISTments data to support 1:1 and small group tutoring. This role will be on the Program Team and report to the VP of Program and Partnerships, and work collaboratively with our Product team.

The ASSISTments Foundation (TAF) is a non-profit with a staff dedicated to improving student learning through ASSISTments, a responsive online learning platform that is teacher-paced and evidence-based. ASSISTments allows teachers to assign independent math practice online, providing students with immediate feedback and teachers with actionable data. ASSISTments experienced tremendous growth in 2020 and is now used by more than 20,000 teachers and 500,000 students. The system is one of few available K-12 math tools proven effective through rigorous randomized controlled research.

Specific to the Role: The Teacher Engagement Manager, Louisiana, will be responsible for serving as the primary point of contact for schools involved in the program and supporting the overall success of teachers in the pilot. This specifically includes 1) Supporting recruitment of the 30 schools 2) Leading all training for teachers and tutors in the pilot, 3) Monitoring progress and providing additional support and coaching as needed, and 4) Supporting the growth of the initiative in the state. 

Responsibilities

Training and Support:

  • Lead high quality virtual training on ASSISTments. Teachers in the pilot will receive 4 hours of formal training on ASSISTments. Tutors in the pilot will receive 2 hours of formal training on TutorASSIST, the data report they will use to support tutoring. Administrators will receive 1 hour of formal training on how to manage enrollment.
  • Provide high quality ongoing coaching and support to pilot schools (up to 10 hours per school for the school year)
  • Continuously monitor data on student progress and teacher usage of ASSISTments. Proactively stay up to date on challenges and provide support to ensure strong implementation. This includes thinking of creative ideas for engaging and supporting teachers and tutors showing low usage
  • Manage logistics for scheduling training, PD and support with schools
  • Establish performance indicators to measure success and quality of training and support. Regularly monitor data to improve the program
  • Develop and maintain clear systems for tracking support provided, and data associated with support (surveys, feedback, usage of ASSISTments)

  

Relationship Management

  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders to allow for successful work
  • Establish effective communication systems and processes with stakeholders. Track interactions and ensure strong engagement
  • Establish effective workflows and processes for coordinating with other teams involved in the program (for example ASSISTments designers and engineers)


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in K-12 math education, preferably working with students from underserved backgrounds and implementing strategies that support equity and inclusion
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a professional development provider, coach or trainer. Evidence of facilitating high quality professional development for educators
  • Experience coordinating cross-team projects, managing timelines and stakeholders, and strategizing creative solutions towards clear goals with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proactive, thoughtful, and entrepreneurial work style on both highly independent and team projects.
  • Driven to work with small teams in a start-up environment, experience in such environments preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with senior district, state and school level administrators, as well as teachers
  • Knowledge of and experience with using ASSISTments strongly preferred, but not required (note this person would need to become expert in ASSISTments)
  • Commitment to equity in education
