Overview of Different Content within ASSISTments

Content-Type: Open Educational Resources 

Description: Core curricula that are available for use online for free. Recommended for any teachers using these curricula or interested in assigning independent practice from these curricula to their students.

Key features:

  • Assign independent practice online (cool downs, practice problems, exit tickets, assessments, etc) 
  • Get class and student-level data
  • Students get immediate feedback while completing the problems

Content-Type: Proprietary Text Books

Description: Core curricula that are copyrighted and that we have added to our platform selectively to support teachers using these materials. Recommended only for teachers using these curricula and where students and teachers have access to the textbook.

Key features:

  • Assign independent practice online (note: problems not available within ASSISTments. The textbook is required - see image)
  • Get class and student-level data
  • Students get immediate feedback while completing the problems

Content-Type: Skill Builders



Description: Repository of practice problems by common core skill created by ASSISTments. Teachers can use this to provide students targeted practice on specific skills

Key features:

  • Students receive a randomly assigned set of problems targeting the assigned skill
  • Students get immediate feedback
  • Mastery-based- Students will continue to receive additional problems until they have answered 3 problems in a row correctly
  • Get class and student-level data (see our skill builders report resource for more details)

Content-Type: Practice Problem Sets

Description: Repository of practice problems by common core standard created by ASSISTments. Teachers can use this to provide students targeted practice on specific skills

Key features:

  • Assign independent practice online by common core skill (note: unlike skill builders which are automated, the teacher selects the specific problems and decides how many to assign)
  • Get class and student-level data
  • Students get immediate feedback while completing the problems

Content-Type: State Test

Description: Repository of questions from previous state tests. 

Key features:

  • Assign some problems or all of the problems from each test available
  • Get class and student-level data
  • Students get immediate feedback while completing the problems (this is good for practice but does not mimic a testing experience)
